Have a question?

Won’t a Seniors’ Commission take volunteers away from PLAs?

No. Every OLP member, over the age of 60, automatically becomes a member of the LiberalSeniors’ Commission the moment they register for OLP membership (same as Women whenthey register; or Youth under age 25 when they register; Rural and Northern residents whenthey register). The Seniors’ Commission offers substantial value add to PLAs through access toa dedicated Team of Senior volunteers who can provide help with outreach activities targeted toOlder Ontario voters. And, the Commission can deploy a team of experienced, skilledvolunteers – when required.Q. Why do we need a Commission for Seniors

Why do we need a Commission for Seniors – won’t that dilute our volunteer base?

There are several Commissions now – Youth, Women and Rural & Northern. Additionally, wehave an OLP Engagement Group that is focused on various other demographics – francophone, LGBTQ+, ethnic communities, etc.  These organizations allow us to work together to ensure wehave covered all demographic interests in our policies and platform that address a broad rangeof voter interests. A Seniors’ Commission builds capacity, legitimacy, and lasting impact on howwe engage the fastest-growing demographic in the province to represent those interests.

Aren’t we just fracturing the Party with another Commission?

No. Older Ontarians are not currently represented at decision-making tables. As Seniorsourselves we bring lived experience, intergenerational insight, community trust, and proven peerconnection. These aren’t soft skills. They are strategic assets – especially when shapingplatform, policy and engagement that affects an aging Ontario population. The Liberal Seniors’Commission intends to advocate for Older Ontarians by: representing the interests and issuesof Seniors in OLP Platform and Policy development.
